UNAUSA and Better World Campaign awarded Bangladesh for its contribution to the UN Peace Keeping Operations worldwide

Before the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers on this 29 May the United Nations Association-USA and Better World Campaign under a banner of “Thank a Peacekeeper” arranged a Congressional reception on 21 May Wednesday to celebrate International Day of UN Peacekeepers and acknowledge Bangladesh and other 7 counties’ commitment and contribution to the UN peacekeeping operations worldwide. UNA-USA and Better World Campaign publically recognized and expressed appreciation for Bangladesh’s dedication and commitment for International Peacekeeping and its present contribution of over 7950 troops to UN peacekeeping operations in Liberia, South Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Cote d’ Ivoire, and Lebanon. On behalf of Bangladesh, Mr. Nayem Uddin Ahmed, Counsellor Political, Bangladesh Embassy in Washington DC received the award from Mr. Peter Yeo, Vice President for Public Policy, UN Foundation & Executive Director, Better World Campaign at the congressional reception held on 21 May 2014.

Including Bangladesh, India, Spain, Germany, Ghana, Morocco, Ethiopia and Jordan were awarded for their contribution to the UN Peacekeeping missions. Congressman Sam Farr (D-CA), Congressman David Cicilline (D-1st District of Rohde Island) and Ms. Victoria K. Holt, Deputy Assistant Secretary, Bureau of International Affairs of the US State Department were present at the occasion.
