99th Birth Anniversary Of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Celebrated In Singapore


UsaNewsOnline.Com Desk, Singapore : Bangladesh High Commission in Singapore celebrated the 99th Birth Anniversary of the Father of the Nation, the architect of independent Bangladesh and the greatest Bangalee of all times, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, in a festive manner and with due fervor. The program started with a celebratory mode and turned joyous with the presence a good crowd of expatriate Bangladeshis, their family members and children from different schools. The celebration included reading out of messages from the Hon’ble President, Hon’ble Prime Minister, Foreign Minister & State Minister for Foreign Affairs, discussion on the childhood and glorious political career of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, recitation of poems, extempore speech and art competition for children of different age groups.

Speakers at the discussion highlighted Bangabandhu’s childhood, his simplicity of life, his long political career and his invaluable contribution to the Liberation War and Independence of Bangladesh. In his speech, visiting Minister for Housing and Public Works Mr. S M. Rezaul Karim who graced the event as Chief Guest said that the Independence of Bangladesh is earned through the sacrifice and relentless struggle of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

He added that Bangabandhu loved children very much and could blend with them easily. He urged expatriate Bangladeshis in Singapore to spread the spirit of patriotism and the philosophy of Bangabandhu among the new generations so that they can come forward to build Bangladesh a true “Sonar Bangla”- which was the dream of the Father of the Nation. In his speech, H.E. Md. Mustafizur Rahman, Bangladesh High Commissioner to Singapore, recalled the childhood of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and mentioned that in the course of time he became the symbol of pride of the Bengali nation with his leadership, wisdom and sacrifices. He urged the expatriates to motivate their children to take lessons from the life and works of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and to be the worthy citizen of the country.
After the discussion, H.E. High Commissioner and his spouse Madam Tanzina Binte Alamgir distributed prizes among the winners and participants in various competitions. At the end of the program, all guests were entertained with Bangladeshi dishes. Press Release
