UsaNewsOnline.Com, New York : On October 20 the Alliance of South Asian American Labor (ASAAL) has arranged the first ever Local Media Dinner in Jackson Heights at Kabab King in honor of all personnel in print and electronic media for their selfless dedicated community outreach effort.

         

ASAAL organized this event to show their sincere appreciation for their hard work in bringing our news to the Community. Whether it is rain or shine news media personnel hand deliver their news to the door steps of our readers and yet paid or not paid, they air current news to our viewers!

ASAAL believes our local media personnel are the best, their work and our work for the Community are same – help the community- together we can do more for all!

ASAAL National President Maf Misbah Uddin said, “you may have heard news conference, meet the press, press briefing, or press release but today you hear ‘media dinner’ at an ASAAL event, our 1st, officially honoring our local news media personnel for the sacrifice they make every day, week after week, they are our hero’s. We are here to honor them, stay with us and enjoy. And remember to join us on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at our eleventh Convention!”

 

National Secretary Karim Choudhury said, “ASAAL is the bridge between our community and mainstream politics. Our work is difficult, we can not do it alone if we and media join together and work in coalition we can move mountains!”

At this event many candidates including John Liu who is running for the Senate District 11, Jessica Ramos, Senate District 13; Catalina Cruz, Assembly District 39 joined us and spoke on GOTV – get out the vote – and the importance of November 6 general election!

John Liu in his speech said, “South Asian Community is growing and getting organized under ASAAL, It started in the City, spreading all over the country and became a national organization! When we are organized and we vote, we win! Let us vote on November 6 and win big for the community.”

Jessica Ramos said, “I’m a Labor, I’m a member of Local 371, I have seen ASAAL’s work, no organization does this great work, what ASAAL does for their community! I promise to work with ASAAL agenda as a Senator when I go to Albany.”

Assembly candidate attorney Catalina Cruz said, “I own because of ASAAL, my winning vote came from the South Asian Community. I plan to hire a Bangladeshi in my office to serve this community better.”

They all made strong statements about how proud they are to be honorary members of ASAAL and how they feel that ASAAL is making a major contribution to the political landscape of New York City.

Also spoke former City Council member Elizabeth Crowley, who is exploring to run for Queens Borough President in the near future.

On behalf of Media Time TV President and CEO Abu Taher spoke and said, “this really an honor to join tonight with this Media dinner organized by ASAAL. We were with ASAAL from the beginning and pledge to work more closely with ASAAL in the future in helping our community.”

From the print media Porichoy editor Nazmul Ahsan said, “ASAAL always do good thing for the community, this media dinner is no different. We really appreciate for this media recognition. We will always work together to do more for the community”.

Weekly Jonotar Kantho editor Mohammed Shakhawat Hossain Salim who created “USAnewsonline.com” said, “I’m involved with ASAAL because I like their work, their dedication. Each work has brought an impact to the community like it did with Eid Holidays, Halal Senior Center, and many other works. This media dinner is the 1st but it will not be the last, ASAAL is always consistent with their work, they bring results, I will be always with them!”

The other news media present were Dr. Wazed Khan, editor Weekly Bangladesh; Lovlu Anser, executive editor Weekly Bangladesh Protidin;  Muhammed Sayed, editor Weekly Probash; Mizanur Rahman, executive editor Weekly Thikana, Shamsul Alam, Chairman Jonotar Kontho; Shahan Sagor, executive editor Weekly Ajkal; Hakikul Islam, editor BAPS news; Sayed Elias Khasru, director Time TV,  journalist Shamim Al-Amin, journalist Rimon Islam, Mohammad Monjurul Haq, senior reporter Prothom Alo; Tofazzal Luton, reporter Prothom Alo;  Mohammad Solaiman, reporter Weekly Bangladesh; Bhargava Mulkarni, News Editor, India Abroad;  and many other news media personnel were appeared briefly!

Those who present were National Women’s Committee Chair Sahana Begum, Vice Presidents Kazi Hossain, Omar Faruq Khasru, Shah Ahmed, National Corresponding Secretary Jed Matalon, Queens Chapter President Monirul Islam, Executive Vice President Nurul Haque, Vice Presidents Mohammad Zohirul Haq, Kazi Ahmed, Mohammed Azhar Bhuiyan, Ismail Khan, Secretary Adnan Syed Bhukhari, Treasurer Arif Ahmed Chowdhury, Executive Director Shahabul Uddin; Brooklyn Chapter Executive Vice President Emdadul Haque Kamal, Sr. Vice President Nazmul Ahsan, Vice President Abul Mansour; Bronx Chapter President Tahmeedul Haque, Executive Director Muhammed Miah, Vice President Mohammad Manzur; Staten Island Chapter has the highest participants Executive Vice President Irshad Sheikh, Vice Presidents Mohammad Younus, AKM Mohib Ullah, Manzur Shaikh, Syed Rahman, Abul Bashar, Women’s Committee members Nazmul Nahar, Gulshan Poppy, Taria Zaman, Hosneara Begum; from Manhattan Chapter President Mohammad Chowdhuey and Vice President Ahmed Ali. There are many more community leaders across the five boroughs were present!

After the event was concluded everyone enjoyed a delicious meal of authentic South Asian Cuisine. The event ended around 9:00 pm.
