Bangladesh High Commission in Nigeria Celebrates 49th Anniversary of the Victory Day

UsaNewsOnline.Com Desk : The 49^thanniversary of the Glorious Victory Day of Bangladesh was celebrated at the High Commission of Bangladesh in Abuja, Nigeria in a befitting manner. The programme started with hoisting of the national flag with national anthem at the Chancery at 9:00 am on 16 December 2020 by Mr. Bidosh Chandra Barman, Acting High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Nigeria.  After the hoisting of national flag, one minute silence was observed marking respect to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and all martyrs.

In continuation of the programme, the second part of the celebration started at the auditorium of the High Commission on the same day. At the outset, floral wreath was placed on the portrait of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Messages of the Hon’ble President, Hon’ble Prime Minister, Hon’ble Foreign Minister and Hon’ble State Minister for Foreign Affairs were read out by Officials of the Mission. A video documentary on the life and works of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Liberation War of Bangladesh was screened.

In his welcome remarks, Mr. Bidosh Chandra Barman, Acting High Commissioner paid deep tribute to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, martyrs and freedom fighters whose sacrifices and support led the country to the final victory. He also mentioned that Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly to build a happy and prosperous country-“Golden Bengal” as dreamt of Bangabandhu. He also urged the Bangladesh nationals living in Nigeria to uphold the image of Bangladesh and contribute to country’s economic development from their respective positions. The programme was attended by, among others, Nigerian guests, Bangladesh community members and Officials of the High Commission.  A special prayer was offered for the salvation of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and all martyrs and for the continued progress and prosperity of the country.
