On behalf of the government and the people of Bangladesh and on my own behalf, I have immense pleasure in extending to you, to your government and to the people of your great country, my warmest congratulations on the occasion of the 242^nd Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America.

Bangladesh and the United States enjoy excellent relations based on mutual respect, shared interest, secularism, democracy, human rights and the rule of law. Both the countries are firmly committed to countering terrorism and violent extremism, free flow of trade and investment, rule-based order, peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region and the world.

I take this opportunity to express my profound thanks to you and to your government for the strong political stand and generous humanitarian support to Bangladesh on the tragic crisis of the Rohingyas. I firmly believe that shared commitment to such noble causes can lead to the greater strengthening of our two countries’ bilateral relations.

I also wish you and your lovely family, as you celebrate this momentous event, good health, long life and happiness, and to the warm, friendly people of the United States of America, peace, progress and prosperity.
