MENG TO TRAVEL TO GEORGIA THIS WEEKEND TO CAMPAIGN WITH CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE JON OSSOFF : Suburban Atlanta district includes large Asian American population
USANEWSONLINE.COM DESK, WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Grace Meng (D-NY), Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), announced today that she will travel to Georgia this weekend to campaign with Democratic Congressional candidate Jon Ossoff.
Ossoff is running in a special election for Georgia’s Sixth Congressional District which encompasses Atlanta’s northern suburbs. Former Rep. Tom Price vacated the seat earlier this year when he was appointed Health and Human Services Secretary. Asian Americans make up approximately 10 percent of the district.
Meng will speak at a pre-canvass rally with Ossoff and the Asian American community on Saturday morning. The event, which is open to media, will take place at 9 a.m. at Ossoff’s field office in Johns Creek, Georgia. The address is 5725 State Bridge Road (see attached flyer).
Meng will be visiting Georgia’s Sixth District in her capacity as DNC Vice Chair.
Meng noted that the DNC – through the Democratic Party of Georgia – has hired field staff for the race including nine organizers and a regional organizing director who are focusing on AAPI, Hispanic, and African American outreach.
“Jon Ossoff is a smart and passionate candidate who will work across the aisle and join us in fighting the radical Trump agenda,” said Meng. “I am excited to campaign with him this weekend, and look forward to calling him my colleague after he ‘flips the sixth.'” Press Release.
