Minister for Industries visits Consulate General of Bangladesh in New York

New York : Mr. Amir Hossain Amu, MP, Minister for Industries, Government of Bangladesh visited the Consulate General of Bangladesh in New York on 3 April.  Mr. Md. Shameem Ahsan,ndc, Consul General and other Officers and Officials of the Mission welcomed him.

While interacting with the Mission officials, he narrated as to how the independence of Bangladesh completely changed the course of life and brought qualitative changes of her people. While appreciating the dedicated services by the officials of Bangladesh Missions, he alerted that a section is out not only to undermine the achievements of the present government led by the Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina but also working against the interests of the country itself. In this regard, he asked Consulate officials to remain vigilant and perform their duties accordingly.

The Consul General briefly narrated the activities of the Mission and expressed Mission’s gratefulness for the continued support being received from the Government.

The Minister later visited all the Sections of the Consulate and interacted with the Mission officials. He also enquired about the well-being of the Bangladesh nationals who were present at the Consulate in big numbers. H.E. Dr. A.K. Abdul Momen, Permanent Representative and Ambassador of Bangladesh to UN, Mr. S.M. Ghulam Faruque, Member, Planning Commission, Mr. Sheikh Nazrul Islam, Division Chief, IMED, Ministry of Planning, Mr. Iqramul Haque, Director General, BSTI and other senior officials were present. The guests were served with Bangladeshi cuisine.

In another development, the Minister was present at a Panel Discussion held at the UN Headquarters, New York on 2 April 2015 in connection with the observance of the World Autism Awareness Day 2015 in which a good number of dignitaries participated. The organizers recognized the presence of the Honorable Minister for Industries at the event. Mrs. Saima Wazed Hossain, Chairperson of the National Advisory Committee on Autism in Bangladesh was also in attendance.

It may be mentioned here that the Minister arrived New York in connection with important official programmes.
