Radwan Chowdhury Announces Candidacy for Montgomery County Council At-Large, Launches “Five-Pillar Blueprint” for Accountable Governance.
USANewsOnline.Com Desk, New York : Radwan Chowdhury February 24 announced his candidacy for Montgomery County Council At-Large, pledging to raise the standard of local government through disciplined oversight, responsible growth, and measurable results.

Chowdhury, a first-generation immigrant and long-time Montgomery County resident, said the county faces a defining moment marked by rising housing costs, federal workforce instability, infrastructure strain, and declining public trust in budgeting and development decisions.
“Montgomery County has extraordinary talent, diversity, and potential,” said Chowdhury. “But we are becoming less affordable and less competitive. We do not lack values — we lack disciplined execution. I’m running to ensure that government works as effectively as the residents it serves.”
Chowdhury’s campaign centers on a Five-Pillar Blueprint focused on:
Affordability & Economic Stability — Expanding affordable and workforce housing, protecting families from structural tax instability, supporting small businesses, attracting major employers, and preparing for federal workforce disruptions.
Education & Youth Success — Strengthening MCPS accountability, closing achievement gaps, expanding career and technical education, and investing in youth violence prevention and mental health access.
Responsible Growth & Modern Infrastructure — Requiring infrastructure-first zoning approvals, increasing transparency around data center expansion, accelerating capital projects, and improving transportation access while reducing congestion.
Public Safety, Community Trust & Inclusion — Advancing data-driven public safety strategies, strengthening hate-crime prevention, protecting immigrant communities, and promoting transparency in law enforcement metrics.
Transparent & Accountable Government — Implementing outcome-based budgeting, independent performance audits, public-facing transparency dashboards, and long-term fiscal sustainability planning.
Chowdhury emphasized that growth must align with infrastructure capacity and that economic development must be inclusive and measurable.
“Growth without planning creates long-term fiscal risk,” he said. “Housing affects schools. Infrastructure affects affordability. Economic development affects fiscal stability. Transparency affects public trust. These issues are connected — and leadership must treat them that way.”
As a first-generation immigrant, Chowdhury also highlighted the importance of inclusive governance in one of the nation’s most diverse counties.
“Montgomery County’s diversity is our strength — fairness is our obligation. Public safety and economic opportunity must protect and include everyone.”
Chowdhury’s campaign is grassroots-driven and will focus on broad community engagement across all regions of the county.
