Bangladesh Consulate General in New Work organizes Film Show based on the Liberation War of Bangladesh

UsaNewsOnline.Com, New York : Consulate General of Bangladesh in New York in collaboration with the Museum of the Moving Image organized screening of a Bengali Film “Anil Baghchir Ek Din” (A Day in the Life of Anil Bagchi) on 29 May, 2016.

Drawing on a novel of popular writer Humayun Ahmed, the film is directed by noted film-maker Mr. Morshedul Islam. The film is based on the glorious history of the epic struggle of Bangladesh in 1971.

The ticketed event took place at an auditorium of the New York based prestigious Museum of the Moving Image in the presence of the Film Director while a good number of US guests including journalists, members of academia, cultural organizations, media & civil society and local elites of the Bangladesh Diaspora including freedom fighters were present.

Mr. Md. Shameem Ahsan,ndc, Consul General welcomed the audience and Mr. Morshedul Islam also spoke on the occasion. While paying deep tribute to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Consul General narrated the sacrifices the country had to make to attain independence. In this regard, Mr. Ahsan mentioned that the Consulate General will continue its effort to organize screening of movies in future as a part of its public diplomacy drive to reach the wider audience in the country with a view to creating a positive image of Bangladesh.

With the message of humanity and communal harmony embedded in the story, the film was well-received by the audience. After the screening, Mr.  Islam responded to various queries of the inquisitive audience.

Museum of the Moving Image is an internationally-reputed institution in New York, and the only museum in the United States dedicated to exploring the art, history, and technology of the moving image.

The Consul General hosted a Reception after the screening in which the guests attended. Press Release
