Bangladesh Embassy condoles the demise of President Zillur Rahman

USA NEWS ONLINE : The Embassy of Bangladesh in Washington DC commiserated the demise of  President Mr. Muhammad Zillur Rahman with deep shock and sorrow. In a condolence message,  Ambassador Mr. Akramul Qader expressed that, this demise ends the era of a political legacy characterized by political acumen, immaculate judgment, courage and resilience, leaving the country and people of Bangladesh at an irreparable loss.

Ambassador, in his message, reminisced his long and illustrious political career that started in 1950s under the blessings and guidance of the Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Muhammad Zillur Rahman has contributed immensely in the formation of our political identity as a democratic and liberal nation. He had been an active member of the valiants who fought for language in 1952, led the movement against military regime in 1962, carried out the six-point movement in 1966 and mass-upsurge in 1969. In 1971, he played prominent role in organizing our  war of liberation. Mr. Zillur Rahman continued his struggle for democracy and democratic rights of the people of the country in the post-75 period and played leading role whenever the people of Bangladesh were thrown into the movements for restoration of  democracy.

Ambassador Qader, on behalf of the Embassy, prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul of Muhammad Zillur Rahman and conveyed to his family and beloved ones  profound sympathy for the loss.
