MI- BADC Endorse Congressman Gary Peters for the Michigan US Senate Seat

The Bangladeshi American Democratic Caucus (MI-BADC) unanimously endorses US Congressman Gary Peters for the United States Senate seat from Michigan to replace veteran Senator Carl Levin, who is retiring at the end of 2014. 

The MI-BADC Executive Council, the MI-BADC Board, the MI-BADC Congressional District Committees, the MI-BADC Advisory Council, and the MI-BADC Board of Trustees jointly approved the decision to work hard in the grass root across the state to elect Congressman Gary Peters for the US Senate in November 2014. The MI-BADC leaders committed to do everything needed to keep the US Senate seat Democratic.

The MI-BADC leadership strongly believes that Gary is the tested leader in Washington who fought to secure auto loans that resulted in saving the auto industry and millions of American jobs; he stood by the President on Healthcare to reform the broken healthcare of America for decades; he fought for the Main Street to keep Wall Street accountable.  Gary’s leadership in the US Senate is critical for our country to ensure social justice and economic growths for good education, good paying jobs, sustainable Social Security, Affordable Health Care, and Immigration Reform for legal pathway to citizenship. 

MI-BADC President Dr. Nazmul Hassan (Shahin) said, “Gary is a great friend of the Michigan Bangladeshi American Community and the Michigan Bangladeshi American Democratic Caucus (MI-BADC).  He represents the most diverse districts (MI-14) across Michigan knowing the needs for all communities like ours.  He is a real fighter and a strong advocate for the middle class families in Michigan.  There are no stronger leaders in the Michigan Democratic Party to take on the Republican Party candidate in the 2014 US Senate race than Gary to keep the seat Democratic. If elected, Gary will join Senator Stabenow in the US Senate to continue his fight for the Michiganders.”

MI-BADC President in Charge Ripa Haq, Executive VP Iqbal Faiz Shapon, and General Secretary Ruhul Huda jointly made a statement saying, “In the 2012 election, we called the voters, we knocked doors, and we gave voters ride to the polling Centers in Hamtramck from our Gates of Columbus Obama Election Head Quarters.  We were waiting to start the campaign work for Gary until his official announcement today.  Our campaign work begins today.  Our organization and leaders are going to do everything needed to get Gary elected to the United States Senate in 2014.”

MI-BADC VP for Organizational Affairs, Marina Azim, said, “We started working for Gary’s campaign in 2008 in his old Congressional MI-9.  We won the 2008 and 2010 elections against the Republican establishment followed by the 2012 election from MI-14. The voter likes Gary for what he stands.  He is a real winner!”
