NYC Mayor De Blasio Holds Town Hall Meeting in the Bronx

UsaNewsOnline.Com, Bronx, New York : NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio held a town hall meeting in the Bronx Wednesday. Held at the Adlai E. Stevenson High School with a few hundred people in attendance, Mayor de Blasio spoke and answered questions for just over two hours. The mayor joined several city officials in Throggs Neck to hear concerns from residents. He said he’s trying to improve the quality of life for New Yorkers, which includes reducing fines for small businesses and providing universal pre-K. “A lot of things are happening that will really improve the quality of life,” de Blasio said. “For a family that gets free pre-K – which, if you had to pay for it, is $10,000, even in some places $15,000 if you have multiple kids, it’s a crushing burden – it’s now something people can depend on. It’s going to lift a burden from working families, but also will do so much to prepare that child for the future.”De Blasio also urged residents to support his ongoing court battle with the Rent Stabilization Association to give homeowners a rebate on their water bills. Community leaders at the town hall stressed that it was important for residents to do their part in helping to keep their neighborhoods safe. Other topics discussed during the forum included public housing, parks, and providing after school programs for kids.

Mayor de Blasio was joined by several city officials, including Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark, City Council Member Annabel Palma, Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and State Senator Ruben Diaz, State Assemblyman Luis Sepulveda.
