Keeping good relationship with neighbors, work with visions and being honest make people good public servant. He said I never run for office just to change my status but to bring change to my people’s life. My father was born in Bangladesh, he died when I was only 8 years of age, he used to pick me up from school, tried to give me as much as time possible and he used to teach me the most good thing in life.

Here I am today serving the people of America, If he was alive and sitting in this hall room he would have been the most proud father as you are today my dear Bangladeshi friends and family members . I am proud to be an Bangladeshi American. Today I am touched and humbled by the love you have given to me. Thank you all.” On December 19 Bangladesh American community council (BACC) and Bangladesh American public affairs committee organized two grand reception and fund raising diners for Bangladeshi decent Michigan congressman (elect) Mr. Hansen Hasem clarke.

In his speach Mr.Clarke thanked Mr. Mujumder for being the first person who congratulated him from Bangldeshi community right after the victory. He also thanked all the media personnel for implementing Bangladeshi culture to the next generation here in America. He also encouraged all the self conscious personnel to join main stream American politics to help Bangladesh in the future.

The first grand reception was held in Golden Palace restaurant in the Bronx, New York. The meeting was presided by Mohammed N. Mujumder LLM. hundreeds of people came from all over the city. It was the most important day for Bangladeshi community. Mr. Hansen Clarke is the first person who was successfully elected in US congress from Bangladeshi background. Not only the Bangladeshi’s were present in this reception ceremony but many of the south east Asian people and journalists were present to show their honor and love to the congressman. Every one was proud of see their son as US congressman and wished for his brighter future.

All the community leaders mentioned about president Barack Obama’s life history and Mr. Hansen Clarkes life history. If Mr. Barack Obama was able to be the president of united states then we all hope for Mr. Hansen’s future to the top of the country. Every one cheered and met with congressman Hansen Clarke personally, took pictures and had a little conversations with him.

The reception was delighted by the many high profile people from all over of the country. The youngest councilman from Hamtramck City Michigan Mr. Kazi Mia was another attraction in the meeting. He is one of the youngest successful Bangladeshi to the main stream politics.

Beside him there was Dr. AKM Abdul Momen, Permanent Representative of Bangladesh at the UN, Consult General of Bangladesh in New York-Sabbir Ahamed Choudhury, AFM Mebbauddin, Former Justice, and Former President of Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association, Councilmember Kazi Miah, Attorney Bruce Fisher, Chief Co-ordinator: Kamal Ahamed. Nazrul Haque-general secretary, Shakawat Ali-Vice President, Siraj Uddin Ahamed Sohag-Joint Convenor, Abdul Gaffar Chowdhruy khusru-Co convenor, Minhaz Ahamed-joint convenor, Abdur Rahim Badsha-Joint convenor, Giash Ahamed- joint Convenor Mohi Uddin Dewan-joint convenor, Monju Miah-joint member secretary.

The other reception was held in Tajmahal Restaurant, Jamaica. It was presided by Atorney Moin Chowdhury and presented by Fakrul Islam Delowar. There were many family members present from Beani Bazar Sylhet where Congressman’s father was born and raised. After the program a cultural show performed by Pria Dias and her group. It was a memorable day for the Bangladeshi community. Dinners were served in both places.

Mr. Hansen Hashem Clarke being the newest Congressman to the United States House of Representatives. Clarke was born in Detroit, Michigan to a Bangladeshi American father[4], Mozaffar Ali Hashem, and an African American mother, Thelma Clarke. He grew up in the city’s lower east side. His father died when he was a child and his mother had to work as a crossing guard to try to make ends meet. Clarke attended Cass Technical High School, and then was admitted to a prestigious east-coast prep school to complete his high school.[3]

Clarke studied at Cornell University, graduating with a degree in fine arts. While at the university, he became interested in politics. He was elected to the student seat on the Cornell University Board of Trustees and was a member of the Quill and Dagger society. He then earned a law degree from Georgetown Law School in 1987.[3]
