State Minister Zahid Maleque met Cui Li, Vice Minister for National Health and Family Planning Commission of China at the UN

UsaNewsOnline.Com, New York : 3 April in the afternoon, Zahid Maleque, the State Minister for Health and Family Welfare of Bangladesh met Vice Minister for National Health and Family Planning Commission of China Ms. Cui Li at the United Nations Headquarters.

The State Minister noted the excellent relationship that exists between the two countries and mentioned that the landmark visit by President of China last year to Bangladesh has taken the relationship to a new height. He thanked the Government of China for funding US$ 2 million for the construction of the Secretariat of PPD (Partners in Population and development) in Dhaka and requested to release the remaining US$ 1 million at the earliest. The Chinese Vice Minister assured Bangladesh State Minister of releasing the fund as soon as possible. She opined that the construction of the Secretariat building should be finished at an early date. She stated that as the current chair of PPD, China would be happy to take part at the inaugural ceremony of the Secretariat building.

The Chinese Vice Minister invited State Minister Zahid Maleque to attend an International Conference on ‘Silk Route Initiative and Health’ to be held on 18 August in China.

The State Minister encouraged Chinese investment in the health sector of Bangladesh especially for the construction of new hospitals. He also invited the Chinese Vice Minister to visit Bangladesh at a convenient time.

The meeting was held in a very cordial atmosphere. It may be mentioned Hon’ble State Minister for Health and Family Welfare is leading the Bangladesh delegation at the 50^th session of the Commission on Population and Development (CPD) being held at UNHQs in New York from April 03-07.
