Victory Day celebrated in Yangon

Myanma : Bangladesh Embassy Yangon celebrated 45th Victory Day with due solemnity and fervor. The day began with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Bangladesh Ambassador Mohammad Sufiur Rahman. All members of the Embassy and a sizable number of Bangladesh expatriates turned out during the flag hoisting ceremony. It was followed by reading out of the messages of the President, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Bangladesh.

Participating in the discussion session, members of the Bangladesh community renewed their pledge of working relentlessly for the country. The discussants recalled immense contribution of the martyrs with gratitude and highlighted the importance and relevance of the Victory Day as culmination of the long struggle for independence. Ambassador Rahman in his remarks respectfully recalled the sacrifice of the martyrs. He paid his sincere homage to the contribution of the Father of the Nation, who not only lead the country to independence but also laid down its guiding principles e.g. equity, social justice and democracy. He highlighted Bangladesh’s achievements under the able leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He respectfully recalled that under her leadership the country has progressed remarkably well particularly in the socio-economic sectors which are brighter than many others in the region. On this day he called upon all countrymen to take a fresh vow to play active roles to work for the incremental progress of the country in home and abroad. The discussion ended with offering dua for the eternal peace of the brave martyrs of the struggle for independence.

In the evening a cultural program was organized featuring patriotic, Tagore and Nazrul songs, dance and recitation of poems. Expatriates along with their family members participated in the cultural program. Press Release.
