Syed Jahangir’s Solo Painting Exhibition in inaugurated in Washington DC
USAnews: “Creative medium such as paintings transcend geographical and cultural barriers”. This was said by Bangladesh Ambassador to USA and State Minister Mr. Akramul Qader today in Washington DC. Ambassador Qader was inaugurating the weeklong Solo Exhibition of prominent Bangladesh painter Syed Jahangir at Bangladesh Embassy in Washington DC. The Bangladesh Ambassador said that Syed Jahangir’s paintings speak of the courage of the people of Bangladesh in the face of natural calamities.
He also emphasized the need for action by the members of International Community to cope with the challenges of climate change. The week long Exhibition is the second Solo art exhibition in a month the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington DC organized as part of reaching out to the people of United States by showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Bangladesh. It may be mentioned that the Solo painting exhibition of New York based Bangladeshi painter Khurshid Alam Saleem was held from 15-21 July, 2010. A good number of spectators attended the inauguration ceremony of Syed Jahangir’s exhibition.

চিত্রকলা ভৌগোলিক এবং সাংস্কৃতিক সীমানা অতিক্রম করে সব মানুষের কাছে পৌঁছে যায়। ওয়াশিংটনস্থ বাংলাদেশ দূতাবাসে বিশিষ্ট বাংলাদেশী চিত্রশিল্পী সৈয়দ জাহাঙ্গীরের এক চিত্র প্রদর্শনী উদ্বোধনকালে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে নিযুক্ত বাংলাদেশের রাষ্ট্রদূত জনাব আকরামুল কাদের একথা বলেন। বাংলাদেশের রাষ্ট্রদূত বলেন যে, সৈয়দ জাহাঙ্গীরের তুলির আঁচড়ে প্রাকৃতিক দুর্যোগের মুখে বাংলাদেশের মানুষের দৃঢ় মনোভাবের প্রতিফলন ঘটেছে। এ প্রসংগে তিনি পরিবেশগত বিপর্যয়ের কারণে সৃষ্ট দুর্যোগের প্রতি দৃষ্টি আকর্ষণ করে আন্তর্জাতিক সমপ্রদায়ের সম্মিলিত কার্যক্রম গ্রহনের উপর জোর দেন। বাংলাদেশের সমৃদ্ধ সাংস্কৃতিক ঐতিহ্য উপস্থাপনের মধ্য দিয়ে মার্কিন নাগরিকদের কাছে বাংলাদেশকে উপস্থাপনের লড়্গ্যে এটি ছিল গত ১ মাসের মধ্যে বাংলাদেশ দূতাবাস আয়োজিত দ্বিতীয় একক চিত্র প্রদর্শনী। উলেস্নখ্য, গত ১৫-২১ জুলাই, ২০১০ তারিখে দূতাবাসে নিউইয়র্ক প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশী চিত্রশিল্পী খুরশীদ আলম সালিমের একক চিত্র প্রদর্শনী অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। সৈয়দ জাহাঙ্গীরের একক চিত্র প্রদর্শনী আজকের উদ্বোধনী অনুষ্ঠানে উলে¬স্নখযোগ্য সংখ্যক দর্শক উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
